Unless you know the area well, or have a GPS, we highly advise that you print out these directions now and tuck them in your travel documents. We have had guests who did not have these directions with them, who have ended up in the Napa Valley, Santa Rosa or even Heldsburg. We don't want that to happen to you.
From San Francisco, Oakland or South.
If you are coming from the San Francisco Airport
you will exit the airport on 101 and will start north. Look then for
the exit in the right lane directing you to Highway 380.This will take
you to the west, or left , up and over Highway 101 towards the foothills .You are now on a short crossover freeway 380 which will go uphill to 280. Hwy 280 is the easiest route though central San Francisco. Hwy 280 becomes 19th Ave as it goes through the city, then becomes 101 again at the Golden Gate Bridge. From there you will take Highway 101 North .
If you are coming from Oakland : As you exit the airport you will want to go North on Hwy I-880. You continue on the northerly direction, towards Sacramento , which brings you to Hwy 580/80( again, in the direction of Sacramento). Keeping somewhat to right, you will look for the turn off on the Richmond/ San Rafael Exit, and turn off there.You will cross the Richmond/ San Rafael Bridge ( you will need $5.00 for the toll) After crossing it you will be connecting in San Rafael to Highway 101.
Continuing now on HWY 101 North.
Now that you are on Hwy 101 North.( no matter where you started from) you continue on 101 North and will soon reach the town of San Rafael. After you pass San Rafael, but before you get to Novato, you will see an exit marked Ignacio Blvd. That will alert you to the next exit, which is the one that you are going to take. Start moving to the right lane. Now you will see the highway sign for the turnoff to Sonoma, Napa and Vallejo. Highway 37. Take it!
You are now traveling across beautiful flat meadowland; soon you will cross a bridge over slough, with a marina to your right. Keep going through the first stop light. As you approach the top of the hill, get into your left lane, you will be taking a left at this next light. This will take you onto Highway 121, and past the Infineon Raceway. A few miles down the road, you will pass Viansa Winery on the curve of a hill, then Country Pine Antiques on your left, Gloria Ferriar Champagne, and Vineyard View Inn on the right.
This turn off is critical.. if you don't turn here you may end up in the town of Napa 20 miles away!!!
At the Inn you will bear to the right, go about ¼ mile then get into the left lane for a turn onto Highway 12. You will be passing a large Fire Station and the Shellville Grill. Hwy 12 turns into Broadway, Sonoma's main street.
You will be passing a road called NAPA ROAD .. do not confuse this with the one which will bring you to our door step, NAPA STREET. Do not turn onto Napa Road just keep going North, down Broadway. Keep going through the first stoplight, see Traintown on your right, go through the second stoplight, and the third. You are now looking at the jewel of Sonoma, the City Hall and Plaza. You will dead-end right before it.
Get in the right lane, and turn right onto Napa Street. Go 1 ½ blocks, turn left. You are on 2nd Street East. Go half way up the block. Look for a long drive to your right. You will see a small oval sign that says Alexandra's
440-2 indicating our address. Go down the drive, as you enter the cul-de-sac, turn left. You will see a small sign that says Alexandra's over the doorway, and the house number 440. and you are THERE!!!
Go right in, the door is open , the keys are on the table and all is in readiness for your visit. Welcome!!

From the Sacramento AirportExit the Sacramento Airport on Highway 5 West to Woodland.
From There go south on Hwy. 113 to Hwy 80. Merge at the western outskirts of Davis onto Hwy 80 going west towards San Francisco. In Approximately ½ hour you start getting in the far right lane , so that you can exit Hwy 80 on the turn off on Hwy 12 towards Napa/Sonoma.
Follow Hwy 12 through the southern part of the Napa Valley until you reach the left hand turn off to the Sonoma Valley. You will love this part of the drive as you pass vineyards, and wineries and you will have vista views off to the San Francisco Bay , on your left just before you reach the next turn off.
Proceed west on Hwy 12. You will go through a stop light that has a large dairy at the intersection. Proceed on Highway 12 until you reach the turnoff to the right that will say Sonoma. Critical Information:The turn off is right after a large firestation which will be on your right. Stay on this road as it winds around a big double curve.
The next intersection with a light will be Napa Road, intersecting with the road that you are now on, which has become Broadway. Do not turn on Napa Road. You will be turning later on NAPA STREET.
